The Word that transforms lives
God speaks all languages and loves all peoples. But until people hear God speak in their mother tongue through the Bible, he remains distant. He is a foreign God. When a community hears the Word of God in their own language, they realise that God identifies with them personally, and that he invites people to know him.
An unfinished task
We praise God for the work that has already been done. In 2024 we celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Bible in Creole, published in 1999. The New Testament has also been published in Balanta, Papel, Mandjak and Bijago. However, thousands of people still have no Scripture in their mother tongue. For them, it's as if God doesn't speak their language.
Translating the Bible has an eternal impact. Every believer and every church has a role to play.
1. Prayer
Prayer is the driving force behind everything we do.
"Unless the LORD builds the house, the builders labour in vain." Psalm 127:1
1. For the peoples of Guinea-Bissau who still don't have the Word of God.
2. The translators, consultants, linguists, administrators and others involved in Bible translation and literacy work among the peoples of Guinea-Bissau.
3. For God to provide more labourers, more partnerships, and the necessary funds to carry out his work.
4. For lives to be transformed as people encounter Jesus in the Bible.
5. That God's name may be glorified and praised among all the peoples of Guinea-Bissau.
2. Give
Giving to God's mission is an investment in eternity, and is essential to enable us to carry out our work.
"But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven... For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." Matthew 6:20-21
As a new organization, ITA relies on partnerships with other institutions and individuals in order to grow in size and strength, so that we can fulfil the mission that God has entrusted to us.

3. Serve
Whatever gifts the Lord has given you, you can use them to extend His kingdom and to support the work of Bible translation.
"Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms." I Peter 4:10
Literacy
Do you like teaching? When the Bible is the first written text in a language, literacy workshops are essential.
Arts
Are you an artist? Use your gifts in photography, illustration, animation, marketing, communication, video, music, etc. for the glory of the Lord.
IT
Software is used at all stages of a Bible translation project. Do you want to use your ICT skills for the Lord?
Linguistics and translation
Do you want to work with an ethno-linguistic group to translate the Scriptures into their language?
Administration
Support Bible translation by using your gifts in finance, public relations, management, administration and more.
Scripture Engagement
Want to promote the use of translated Scriptures? Make disciples using audio recordings, apps, Bible studies, etc.
Theology
Bible translation involves a lot of testing and revision. Do you want to use your theological studies to become a translation consultant?
